Day 5 - Bergen and start of Hurtigruten Cruise

More Bergen sightseeing

The weather changed considerably overnight.  There was a lot of heavy rain and it became very windy.  We packed our cases and stayed in our room until about 11.00 then checked out and went off to see a few more places.  We first looked around some very small streets behind Bryggen and then, with a couple of hours remaining on our travel card we caught the bus to Gamle Bergen which is a museum with a lot of old Norwegian style buildings.  It was raining when we left so we got the bus back to the hotel and sat in the lounge area until it was time to check in for the Hurtigruten.

Check in was fast and easy.  The ship is enormous.  Much bigger than I imagined.  We boarded the ship at 16.00 and went straight to a safety briefing and then had a look around before we could get into our rooms at 18.00.  It took ages to unpack as we kept getting in each others way as the cabin is quite narrow.  It is a nice room with a good sized window and so far has been very quiet.  We had dinner which was very good then went to the deck to watch as the ship left Bergen at 22:30.   In bed now and ship is rolling quite a lot.  Feels really strange.
